Not good enough

It's pretty silly that people would tell you your books aren't Irish enough. I'm re-reading The Poison Throne at the moment and the dialogue is wonderfully Irish-influenced. You even use the language. And even it didn't, Lord forbid you be creative. The cultures that appear in your stories and fascinating and intricate and part of its appeal. It would not suit an Irish setting at all. I love books set in Ireland. Some of my favourite authors are Irish with many books set in Ireland and I'm proud of the number of great writers from Ireland, but even so, it shouldn't be the focus of pretty much everything just because they happen to be Irish.
